NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 2) which is identical with IEC 60831-2 : 1995 ‘Shunt power capacitors of the self-healing type for a.c. systems having a rated voltage up to and including 1 000 V - Part 2: Ageing test, self-healing test and destruction test’ issued by the International ElectrotechnicalCommission (IEC) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Power Capacitors Sectional Committee and approval of the Electrotechnical Division Council.

This standard was previously published as IS 13341 : 1992 ‘Requirements for ageing test, selfhealing test and destruction test on shunt capacitors of the self-healing type for ac power systems having a rated voltage up to and including 650 V’. The committee has now decided to adopt IEC 60831-2 : 1995 in dual numbering as Part 2 of IS 13340. This standard supersedes IS 13341 : 1992 and after the publication of this standard IS 13341 shall be treated as withdrawn.

The text of IEC Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:
