IS 13360 : Part 2 : Sec 1 : 2025/ISO 293 : 2023 Plastics - Methods of Testing - Part 2 Sampling and Preparation of Test Specimens - Section 1 Plastics - Compression Moulding of Test Specimens of Thermoplastic Materials
NATIONAL FOREWARD
This Indian Standard (Part 2/Sec 1) (Second Revision) which is identical to ISO 293 : 2023 'Plastics - Compression moulding of test specimens of thermoplastic materials' issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendations of the Methods of Sampling and Test for Plastics Sectional Committee and approval of the Petroleum, Coals and Related Products Division Council.
This standard was first published in 1992 and subsequently revised in 2016. This revision has been undertaken to align with the latest version of ISO 293 : 2023.
The major changes in this revision are as follows:
a) The definition for 'cooling rate' has been revised (see 3.6);
b) Requirements regarding the biggest clamping force and the highest platens temperature have been changed (see 4.1);
c) The description of common specifications of positive mould has been given (see 4.2.3.3);
d) The conditions for the use of vacuum oven while material drying have been added (see 5.1.1);
e) The methods of cooling rate have been revised (see Table 1); and
f) A bibliography has been added.
The text of ISO standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:
a) Wherever the words 'International Standard' appear referring to this standard, they should be read as 'Indian Standard'; and
b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
