NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 6/Sec 21) (First Revision) which is identical to ISO 871 : 2022 ‘Plastics - Determination of ignition temperature using a hot-air furnace’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Methods of Sampling and Test for Plastics Sectional Committee and approval of the Petroleum, Coal and Related Products Division Council.

This standard was originally published in 2004. This revision has been undertaken to align it with the latest version of ISO 871 : 2022.

The main changes compared to the previous edition are as follows:

a) An option to use a modification of the equipment used for ISO 1182 to assess ignitability has been added.

b) Mandatory information has been provided throughout the document.
