NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 8/Sec 11) (First Revision) which is identical with ISO 22088-2 : 2006 ‘Plastics - Determination of resistance to environmental stress cracking (ESC) - Part 2: Constant tensile load method’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Methods of Sampling and Test for Plastics Sectional Committee and approval of the Petroleum, Coal and Related Products Division Council.

The standard was originally published in 1999 which was identical with ISO 6252 : 1992 ‘Plastics - Determination of environmental stress cracking (ESC) - Constant-tensile-stress method’. ISO has published ISO 22088-2 : 2006 on the above subject, which cancels and replaces ISO 6252 : 1992. Therefore, the committee has decided to revise this standard to align it with ISO 22088-2 : 2006.

The text of ISO Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions are however not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:

a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’.

b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
