1 SCOPE

1.1 This standard specifies safety and performance requirements for the handles and knobs on items of cookware for use on the top of a stove or any other heating appliance and:

a) Fixing systems used for attachment to the cookware;

b) Cookware regardless of material or method of manufacture with the exceptions of glass, ceramic and glass ceramic articles; and

c) Cookware intended for use both “on top” and “in oven”.

1.2 This standard does not cover:

a) Any other requirements for cookware; and

b) Items of ovenware specifically confined to use within the oven.

NOTE - Handles, knobs and fixing systems are tested as complete items of cookware.
