NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 2/Sec 19) (First Revision) which is identical with IEC 60601-2-19 : 2020 ‘Medical electrical equipment - Part 2-19: Particular requirements for the basic safety and essential performance of infant incubators’ issued by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Electromedical, Diagnostic Imaging and Radiotherapy Equipment Sectional Committee and approval of the Medical Equipment and Hospital Planning Division Council.

This standard was originally published as IS 13812 (Part 19) : 1994 ‘Medical electrical equipment - Particular requirement for safety ? Part 19: Baby incubators’ which was identical with IEC publication 601-2-19 : 1990. It was superseded by IS 13450 (Part 2/Sec 19) : 2018 which was an identical adoption of IEC 60601-2-19 : 2009. The first revision has been undertaken to align it with the latest edition of IEC 60601-2-19 : 2020.
