1 Scope

1.1 Macroetching is the etching of specimen for examination withunaided eye at low magnifications and is used to reveal themacrostructure of copper and copper alloy products, such as bars,billets, forgings and castings. The present procedure is intendedto be followed for copper and copper alloys, showing characteristicstructure and incidence of certain processing defects and isapplicable to wrought and cast products.
