IS 13648 : 1993 Power electronics capacitors

1 Scope

1.1 This standard applies to capacitors intended to be used inpower electronic equipment, particularly for: (a) Semiconductorswitching and protection, and (b) filtering (see Note 2).

1.1.1 The rated voltage of these capacitors is limited to 10 000V. The basic frequency of the systems in which these capacitors areused is usually below 1 000 Hz, while the pulse frequencies may goup to several 1 000 Hz and in some cases beyond 10 000 Hz.

1.1.2 This standard distinguishes ac capacitors and dccapacitors and are considered as components housed in closedcabinets.
