NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Fourth Revision) which is identical with ISO 4753 : 2011 ‘Fasteners — Ends of parts with external metric thread’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the General Engineering and Fasteners Standards Sectional Committee and approval of the Production and General Engineering Division Council.

This standard was originally published in 1961 and subsequently revised in 1967, 1980 and 1987.

The Committee has now decided to adopt this standard under the dual numbering system in order to align it with the latest version of ISO 4753 : 2011 to make pace with the latest international practices.

This revision includes the following:

a) A new variety of end part ‘Threaded cone point (CA)’

b) Ends which are added to the specified nominal length of the fastener

c) Dimensions for flat pilot points — Coarse thread

d) Dimensions for pilot points with truncated cone — Coarse thread

e) Dimensions for pilot points with truncated cone — Fine pitch thread

The text of ISO standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain terminologies and conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:

a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’.

b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker, while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
