This Indian Standard which is identical with ISO 4970 : 1979`Steel - Determination of total or effective thickness of thinsurface-hardened layers, issued by the International Organizationfor Standardization (ISO), was adopted by the Bureau of IndianStandards on the recommendation of the Metallography and HeatTreatment Sectional Committee (MTD 22) and approval of theMetallurgical Engineering Division Council.
