Revised Standard from Last Update.

NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 4) (Second Revision) which is identical with IEC 60851-4 : 2016 ‘Winding wires - Test methods - Part 4: Chemical properties’ issued by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Winding Wires Sectional Committee and approval of the Electrotechnical Division Council.

This standard was originally published in 1994 and subsequently revised in 2011. The second revision of this standard has been undertaken to align it with the latest version of IEC 60851-4 : 2016.

The major changes in this revision are as follows:

a) Revision of Test 16: Resistance to refrigerants;

b) Revision of Test 17: Solderability; and

c) Addition of new Annex A for alternative refrigerants to monochlorodifluoromethane (R 22).

This Indian Standard is published in six parts. The other parts in this series are:

Part 1 General

Part 2 Determination of dimensions

Part 3 Mechanical properties

Part 5 Electrical properties

Part 6 Thermal properties

The text of IEC Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain terminologies and conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:

a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’.

b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker, while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
