IS 13778 : Part 5 : 2012 : Winding Wires Test Methods Part 5 Electrical Properties
Reaffirmed 2017
NATIONAL FOREWORD
This Indian Standard (Part 5) (First Revision) which is identical with IEC 60851-5 : 2008 ‘Winding wires — Test methods — Part 5: Electrical properties’ issued by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Winding Wires Sectional Committee and approval of the Electrotechnical Division Council.
This standard was first published in 1993. This revision has been undertaken with a view to bring it in line with the latest version of IEC 60851-5 : 2008.
Significant revisions to the previous edition include the following points:
a) in clause 5.3, the addition of the use of carbon brush electrodes for the counting discontinuities during the high voltage continuity test, as an alternative to the V-groove pulley electrode; and
b) clarifications in the breakdown voltage test for round wires larger than 2 500 mm and for fibrous covered wires.
The text of IEC Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:
a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear, referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’.
b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
