Revised Standard from Last Update.

NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (First Revision) which is identical with ISO 23529 : 2016 ‘Rubber - General procedures for preparing and conditioning test pieces for physical test methods’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Methods of Test for Rubber and Rubber Products Sectional Committee and approval of the Petroleum, Coal and Related Products Division Council.

The properties of rubber and behaviour of equipment under test are influenced by atmospheric conditions, such as the temperature, the relative humidity and the pressure of the ambient air at the time of the test. For comparison of test results obtained by different test laboratories/testing centres, it becomes necessary to specify standard atmospheric conditions and conditioning procedures, under which the test should be carried out or at which specimen should be conditioned before the test.

This standard was originally published in 1993 by taking assistance from ISO 471 which was revised by ISO 23529. The first revision of this standard has been undertaken to align it with the latest version of ISO 23529 : 2016.

The text of ISO Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain terminologies and conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:

a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’.

b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker, while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
