This Indian Standard ( First Revision ) which is identical with ISO 6971 :2002 ?Cranked-link drag chainsof welded construction, attachments and sprockets? issued by the International Organization forStandardization ( ISO ) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendations of theTransmission Devices Sectional Committee and approval of the Medical Instruments, General andProduction Engineering Division Council.

The text of the ISO Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standardwithout deviations. Certain conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards.Attention is particularly drawn to the foIlowing:

a) Wherever the words ?International Standard? appear referring to this standard, they should beread as ?Indian Standard?.

b) Comma ( , ) has been used as a decimal marker, while in Indian Standards, the current practiceis to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.

In the adopted standard, reference appears to the following International Standard for which IndianStandard also exists. The corresponding Indian Standard which is to be substituted in its place is listedbelow along with its degree of equivalence for the edition indicated:
