1. SCOPE

This standard (Part 1) covers the method of determination of the state of in-situ stress underground through a drill hole using hydraulic fracturing technique and hydraulic tests on pre-existing fractures. The test provides, in general, the magnitudes and direction of the maximum and minimum stresses in the plane perpendicular to the drill hole axis.
