NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 2) (First Revision) which is identical with ISO 8549-2 : 2020 ‘Prosthetics and orthotics - Vocabulary - Part 2: Terms relating to external limb prostheses and wearers of these prostheses’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Artificial Limbs, Rehabilitation Appliances and Assistive Products for Persons with Disabilities Sectional Committee and after approval of the Medical Equipment and Hospital Planning Division Council.

This standard was first published in 1994 based on ISO 8549-2 : 1989. This revision has been undertaken to align it with ISO 8549-2 : 2020.
