National Foreword
This Indian Standard (First Revision) which is identical with ISO 3543 : 2000 ?Metallic and non-metalliccoatings - Measurement of thickness - Beta backscatter method? issued by theInternational Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standardson the recommendation of the Corrosion Protection and Finishes Sectional Committee and approval ofthe Metallurgical Engineering Division Council.
This standard was first published in 1994 based on ISO 3543 : 1981. Since ISO 3543 has been revisedin 2000, therefore, need was felt to revise IS 14149 also.

b) SG/IN-2 Radiological safety in open field radiography
Technical Corrigendum 1 to the above International Standard has been given at the end of thispublication.
In reporting the result of a test or analysis made in accordance with this standard, if the final value, observed or calculated, is to be rounded off, it shall be done in accordance with IS 2 : 1960 ?Rules forrounding off numerical values (revised)?.
