IS 14172 : 2024/ISO/IEC 7810 : 2019 + Amd 1 : 2024 Identification Cards - Physical Characteristics
NATIONAL FOREWORD
This Indian Standard (Second Revision) which is identical to ISO/IEC 7810 : 2019 'Identification cards Physical characteristics' issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) jointly was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Identification & Data Capture Techniques, Cards and Security Devices Sectional Committee and approval of the Electronics and Information Technology Division Council.
This standard was first published in 1994 and was identical with ISO/IEC 7810 : 1985. The standard was first revised in 2021 to align it with ISO/IEC 7810 : 2003. The second revision of this standard has been undertaken to align it with the latest version of ISO/IEC 7810 : 2019. This Indian Standard also includes Amendment No.1 which is published in 2024.
The text of ISO/IEC Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions are however not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:
a) Wherever the words 'International Standard' appears referring to this standard, they should be read as 'Indian Standard'; and
b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker while in Indian Standards, the current Practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
