IS 14224 : 1995 Automotive vehicles - Registration plate - Requirements

1 Scope

This standard specifies requirements such as location, shape anddimensions of letters and numerals for mounting and fixing ofregistration plates on motor vehicles. This standard applies topassenger cars and commercial vehicles and their trailers and motorcycles, scooters and three wheelers.

1.1 Where ever this standard refers to the registration plate,it also covers the plain surface of the vehicle, where theregistration mark is intended to be accommodated, irrespective ofthe fact whether a separate plate is used or not.
