IS 14231 : Part 7 : 1999 Cabled Distribution System for Television and Sound Signal - Part 7 : Electromagnetic Compatibility of Systems

ICS 33.060.4 LTD 7
Reaffirmed 2019

1 Scope

1.1 This standard (Part 7) applies to the radiationcharacteristics and immunity to electromagnetic disturbance ofcabled distribution systems for television signals, sound signalsand interactive multimedia signals and covers the frequency range0.3 MHz to 3.0 MHz.

1.2 This standard specifies EMC performance requirements andlays down the methods of measurement.

1.3 Cable networks beyond the system outlets (for example, thereceiver lead, in simplest terms) which begin at the system outletand end at the subscriber's terminal equipment shall comply withthese requirements provided that no other specific provisionsapply.

1.4 The equipment as well as the coaxial cables must comply withthe network conditions laid down by the manufacturer of theequipment and the coaxial cable respectively to ensure the properoperation of the network itself.

1.5 It will be the responsibility of the operator of the networkto ensure that the cable network meets the requirements of thisstandard.

1.6 To minimize the risk of interference to other radio servicescaused by possible radiation from a cable network and to limit thepossible penetration of external signals which may interfere withthe operation of a network, it is necessary not only to useequipment which satisfies the requirements regarding limits ofradiation and of immunity to external fields but also to ensure theintegrity of all cable connections on each item of active orpassive cable network equipment.
