IS 14260 : 1995/ISO 9385 : 1990 Glass and glass-ceramics - Knoop hardness test

NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard which is identical with ISO 9385 : 1990Glass and glass-ceramacis- Knoop hardness test, issued by theInternational Organization for Standardization (ISO), was adoptedby the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendations of theOptical and Mathematical instruments Sectional Committee (LM 20)and approved by the Light Mechanical Engineering Division Council.

The Knoop hardness number characterises the behaviour of glassand glass-ceramacis concerning a permanent change of the surfaceafter indentation with a solid material. This is one of a series ofstandards relating to the optical glass and glass ceramic testing.
