This standard (Part 8) specifies sizes, material and tests fororange smoke signals, when the ships lifeboats and liferafts are indistress and need help or when the rescue station and Marine helpunits guide the distress ships to shore. Its performance conformsto the stipulations of SOLAS convention, 1974 and InternationalRegulations for preventing collisions at sea, 1972.
