This Indian Standard, which is identical with ISO 7712 : 1983`Laboratory glassware-Disposable pasteur pipettes', issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), was adoptedby the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Laboratory Glassware Sectional Committee and approval of theMedical Equipment and Hospital Planning Division Council.

The Pasteur pipettes are widely used for transfer and replicate dispensing of drops of solutions and suspensions of biologicalmaterials.
