IS 14445 : 1997 Textiles - Fabrics for awnings and camping tents - Specification.

1 Scope

This standard specifies important material characteristics for woven fabricsfor awnings and camping tents. To meet the needs arising from different climaticconditions, different national habits in tent usage or differentdurability-expectations of the customer, the material requirements are splitinto two levels: A and B. Level A requirements apply to awnings and camping tentfabrics intended for severe and/or long term use; level B requirements are lowerthan level A and apply to fabrics intended for less severe use.

Note - As far as the division and subdivision in different tent-categoriesand types is concerned this standard follows the classification as given below:

a) Awnings

   Residential awning - Type R

   Touring awning      - Type T

   Snow awning use    - Type SN

b) Camping tents

   - Sleeping tent (Type S);

   1) Class 1 -Light weight tent

   2) Class st - Standard weight tent

   - Touring tent (Type T)

   - Residential tent (Type R)
