National Foreword

This Indian Standard which is identical with ISO 4416 : 1981 "Sizedesignation of clothes - Womens and girls underwear, nightwear foundationgarments and shirts" issued by International Organization for Standardization(ISO), was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation ofthe Apparels (Ready-Made Garments) Sectional Committee and approval of theTextile Division Council.

This standard supersedes IS 10015 : Part 6 : 1983 to align National Standardwith the corresponding International Standard.

Technical Corrigendum to the above International Standard has beenincorporated in the text.

The text of ISO standard has been approved as suitable for publication asIndian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions are, however, notidentical with those used in Indian Standards, Attention is particularly drawnto This:

a) Wherever the words `International Standard appear referring to thisstandard, they should be read as `Indian Standard.

b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker in the International Standard,while in the Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as thedecimal marker.
