IS 1448 : Part 22 : 2019 Methods of Test for Petroleum and its Products [ P : 22 ] Determination of Asphaltenes ( Heptane Insolubles ) in Crude Petroleum and Petroleum Products

ICS 75.040

PCD 01

Revised Standard from Last Update.

1. Scope

1.1 This standard [P : 22] describes the procedure for determination of the heptane insoluble asphaltenes content present in gas oil, diesel fuel, residual fuel oils, lubricating oils, bitumen and crude petroleum which has been topped to an oil temperature of 260°C (see Annex A).

1.2 The precision is applicable to values between 0.5 and 30.0 percent m/m. The values outside this range may still be valid, but may not give the same precision values. Presence of additives in the oils may lead to imprecise results.

WARNING - This use of this standard may involve hazardous materials, operation and equipment. This standard does not purport to address all of the safety problems associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
