Revised Standard from Last Update.
NATIONAL FOREWORD
The Indian Standard (Part 29) (Fourth Revision) which is identical with ISO 6246 : 2017 ‘Petroleum products - Gum content of fuels - Jet evaporation method’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Methods of Sampling and Test for Petroleum, its Products, Gaseous Fuels and Lubricants Sectional Committee and approval of the Petroleum, Coal and Related Products Division Council. Second revision of this standard was published in 1982 which was an adaptation of joint publication of ASTM D381-75 and IP 131/77. In third revision of this standard, the Committee decided to align the standard with ISO 6246 : 2004 Petroleum products and lubricants - Petroleum products - Gum content of light and middle distillate fuels - Jet evaporation method. The fourth revision of this standard has been undertaken to align it with the latest version of ISO 6246 : 2017.
The text of ISO Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain terminologies and conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:
a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’.
b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker, while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
