IS 1448 : Part : 52 : 2017 / ISO 2176 : 1995 Methods of Test for Petroleum and its Products [P : 52] Drop Point
Reaffirmed 2022
1. Scope
This Indian Standard [P : 52] (Second Revision) which is identical with ISO 2176 : 1995 ‘Petroleum products - Lubricating grease - Determination of dropping point’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Methods of Test for Petroleum, Petroleum Products and Lubricants Sectional Committee and approval of the Petroleum, Coal and Related Products Division Council.
First revision of this standard was carried out in 1971 to align with the joint publication of ASTM D 566/64 and IP 132/65 issued by the American Society for Testing and Materials and The Institute of Petroleum, London, respectively. The Committee decided to revise this standard to align it with ISO 2176 : 1995 and publish it under dual numbering system.
Technical Corrigendum 1 to the above International Standard published in 2001 has been given at the end of this publication.
The text of ISO Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:
a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’.
b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
