NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 9) (Third Revision) which is identical to ISO 5165 : 2020 ‘Petroleumproducts - Determination of the ignition quality of diesel fuels - Cetane engine method’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Methods for Sampling and Test for Petroleum and Related Products of Natural or Synthetic Origin (excluding Bitumen) Sectional Committee and approval of the Petroleum, Coal and Related Products Division Council.

This standard was originally published in 1960 and subsequently revised in 2014 and 2019. First revision was identical with ISO 5165 : 1998. Second revision of this standard was identical with ISO 5165 : 2017. The third revision of this standard has been undertaken to align it with the latest version of ISO 5165 : 2020.
