1. SCOPE

1.1 This standard prescribes guidelines for the recycling of plastics waste/scrap by different techniques based on technological trends and policy directives issued for the plastics waste management in India. The process stages, requirements, recommendations and terminology presented in this standard are intended for general applicability. The scope of this standard does not cover product related specifications or requirements including statutory guidelines, issued from time to time and as applicable.

1.2 The guidelines shall help manufacturers of plastic products who wish to use recycled material along with virgin material in deciding about quality and marking requirements based on percentage of recycled content used in the finished product.

The standards listed in Annex A contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this standard. At the time of publication, the editions indicated were valid. All standards are subject to revision and parties to agreements based on this standard are encouraged to investigate the possibility of applying the most recent editions of the standard listed in Annex A.
