This Indian Standard which is identical with ISO/IEC 9126 : 1991`Information technology - Software product evaluation - Qualitycharacteristics and guidelines for their use issued jointly by theInternational Organization for Standardization (ISO) andInternational Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) was adopted by theBureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of SoftwareSystems, Languages and Methodologies Sectional Committee (LTD 33)and approval of the Electronics and Telecommunication DivisionCouncil.

The text of the ISO/IEC standard has been approved as suitablefor publication as Indian Standard without deviations. Certainconventions are, however, not identical to those used in IndianStandards. Attention is particularly drawn to This:
