Revised Standard from Last Update.

NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian standard (First Revision) which is identical with ISO 5984 : 2022 ‘Animal feeding stuffs - Determination of crude ash’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Animal Feeds and Nutrition Sectional Committee, FAD 5 and approval of the Food and Agriculture Division Council.

This Standard was first published in year 2000 and was identical adoption of ISO 5984 : 1978 ‘Animal Feeding Stuffs - Determination of crude ash’. This revision has been undertaken to align it with the latest version of the ISO 5984. The major changes introduced in this revision are as follows:

a) An alternative way of incineration (directly in the cold muffle furnace) has been added;

b) The possibility to use a thermocouple sensor for the muffle furnace has been added;

c) The obligation to perform two determinations has been removed; and

d) The repeatability and reproducibility ranges have been modified.
