NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard ( Part 3/Sec 4 ) which is identical with IEC 60264-3-4 (1999) ‘Packaging of winding wires - Part 3-4 : Taper barrelled delivery spools - Basic dimensions of containers for taper barrelled delivery spools’ issued by the International Electrotechnical Commission was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Winding Wires Sectional Committee ( ET 33 ) and approval of the Electrotechnical Division Council.

This standard is one of a series which deals with insulated wires used for winding wires in electrical equipment. The series comprises three groups describing:

Methods of test (IS 13778/IEC 60851)

Specifications for particular types of winding wires (IS 13730/IEC 60317)

Packaging (IS 14841/IEC 60264)

The text of IEC standard has been approved as suitable for publication as Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:

a) Wherever the words ‘International Standards’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’, and

b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
