NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard ( Part 4/Sec 1) ( First Revision ) which is identical with IEC 60264-4-1 : 1997 ‘Packaging of winding wires — Part 4-1: Methods of test — Delivery spools made from thermoplastic materials’ issued by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) after incorporationg Amendment No. 1 published in 2009 was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Winding Wires Sectional Committee and approval of the Electrotechnical Division Council.

This standard was originally published in 2000. This revision has been undertaken to bring it in line with international practices. The following changes have been incorporated in this revision:

a) There is a change in the method of impact test on flanges at low temperature.

b) During deformation under load, when using Figure 4 C the tolerance of the clearance between the disk and the barrel for the conical flange has been changed.

c) There is a change in the method of test for spools with conical flanges. The figure 3 Spool holding fixture has been replaced by a new figure.

The text of IEC Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:

a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear, referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’.

b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
