1 Scope
This standard (Part 1) specifies requirements and tests for conduit systemsincluding conduits and conduit fittings, for the protection and management ofinsulated conductors and/or cables in electrical installation or incommunication system up to 1.1 kV ac and/or 1 500 V dc. This standard applies tometallic, non-threaded entries which terminate the system. This standard doesnot apply to enclosures and connecting boxes which come within the scope of IS14772.
Note 1 - Certain conduit systems may also be suitable for usc in hazardousatmospheres. Regard should then be taken for the extra requirement necessary forequipment to be installed in such conditions.
Note 2 - Earthing conductors may or may not insulated. Earthing conduits mayor may not be insulated if laid outside, but invariably be insulated when drawninside.
