NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 11) which is identical with ISO 5418-1 : 2006 Iron ores - Determination of copper - Part 1: 2,2’ Biquinolyl spectrometric method’, issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Methods of Chemical Analysis of Metals Sectional Committee and approval of the Metallurgical Engineering Division Council.

IS 1493 was first published in 1959 and subsequently revised as IS 1493 (Part 1) : 1981 ‘Methods of chemical analysis of iron ores: Part 1 Determination of common constituent’ which covered the chemical analysis of iron ores for determination of moisture, silica, iron, phosphorus (= 0.5 percent), aluminium and sulphur by conventional methods, namely gravimetric and volumetric methods.
