This Indian Standard (Part 1) which is identical with ISO 8583-1 : 2003 ‘Financial transaction card originated messages - Interchange message specifications - Part 1: Messages, data elements and code values’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Banking and Financial Services Sectional Committee and approval of the Management and Systems Division Council.
