NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 2) (Second Revision) which is identical with ISO 9564-2 : 2014 ‘Financial services - Personal Identification Number (PIN) management and security - Part 2: Approved algorithms for PIN encipherment’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Banking and Financial Services Sectional Committee and approval of the Management and Systems Division Council.

This standard was first published in 2007 and was the adoption of ISO 9564-2 : 2005. This revision has been necessitated because of the publication of ISO 9564-2 : 2014 edition which cancels and replaces ISO 9564-2 : 2005.

The other parts in this series are:

Part 1 Basic principles and requirements for PINs in card-based systems

Part 4 Requirements for PIN handling in eCommerce for payment transactions

This part specifies approved algorithms for the encipherment of Personal Identification Numbers (PINs).

The text of ISO Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:

Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’.
