NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard ( Part 1 ) which is identical with ISO 12925-1 : 1996 ‘Lubricants, industrial oils and related products ( class L ) - Family C ( Gears ) - Part 1 : Specifications for-lubricants for enclosed gear systems’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization ( JSO ) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendations of the Lubricants and Related Products Sectional Committee and approval of the Petroleum, Coal and Related Products Division Council.

The text of ISO Standard has been proposed to be approved as suitable for publication as Standard without deviations. Certain conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following: Indian Indian

a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’; and

b) Comma ( , ) has been used as a decimal marker while in Indian Standards, the current practiceis to use a point ( . ) as the decimal marker.
