1 Scope
1.1 This standard (Part 2) prescribes the method for determiningtemperatures of petroleum and its products when such products arestored in liquid state in bulk at pressure above atmospheric. Tanksand vessels which communicate with outside atmosphere duringsampling or gauging, but which otherwise operate at pressures fewcentimetres of water above atmospheric are excluded from thepurview of this standard.
1.1.1 Vertical and horizontal cylinders, hemispheroids, spheroids, and spheres are some of the major types of pressurestorage vessels. The usual pressure range is 0.175 to 0.35kg/cm2 for plain and noded hemispheroids, 0.175 to 1.0 kg/cm2 for noded spheroids, 0.35 to 2.0kg/cm2 for plain spheroids, 2.0 to 15.0 kg/cm2 for spheres and 1.0 to 21.0 kg/cm2for cylindrical drums.
