NATIONAL FOREWORD
This Indian Standard (Part 7) (First Revision) which is identical with ISO 10791-7 : 2020 ‘Test conditions for machining centres - Part 7: Accuracy of finished test pieces’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Machine Tools, Machine Tool Elements and Holding Devices Sectional Committee and approval of the Production and General Engineering Division Council.
A machining centre is a numerically controlled machine tool capable of performing multiple machining operations, including milling, boring, drilling, and tapping, as well as automatic tool changing from a magazine or similar storage unit in accordance with a machining programme. Most machining centres have facilities for automatically changing the direction in which the workpieces are presented to the tool.
