NATIONAL FOREWORD
This Indian Standard (Part 1) (First Revision) which is identical with ISO 15403-1 : 2006 'Natural gas - Natural gas for use as a compressed fuel for vehicles - Part 1: Designation of the quality’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Petroleum, Lubricants and Their Related Products Sectional Committee and approval of the Petroleum, Coal and Related Products Division Council.
This standard was first published in 2003 which was identical with ISO 15403 : 2000 'Natural gas - Designation of the quality of natural gas for use as a compressed fuel for vehicles’ under dual numbering system. This revision has been undertaken to harmonized it with the latest developments that have taken place at International level. As ISO 15403 has now been published in two parts, similarly this standard is also being published in two parts. Other part in this series is:

The text of ISO Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:
a) Wherever the words International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as 'Indian Standard'.
b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
