IS 15371 : Part 1 : 2023/ISO 14253-1 : 2017 Geometrical Product Specifications (GPS) - Inspection by Measurement of Workpieces and Measuring Equipment Part 1 Decision Rules for Verifying Conformity or Nonconformity with Specifications
Revised Standard from Last Update.
NATIONAL FOREWORD
This Indian Standard (Part 1) (First Revision) which is identical with ISO 14253-1 : 2017 ‘Geometrical product specifications (GPS) - Inspection by measurement of workpieces and measuring equipment - Part 1: Decision rules for verifying conformity or nonconformity with specifications’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Engineering Metrology Sectional Committee and approval of the Production and General Engineering Division Council.
This standard was originally published in 2003 which was identical adoption of ISO 14253-1 : 1998. The first revision of this standard has been undertaken to align it with the latest version of ISO 14253-1.
The major changes in this revision are as follows:
a) The content applies ISO/IEC Guide 98-4 and gives recommendation for simplification by using intervals representing the underlying probability. As a consequence, the default coverage factor k = 2 has been replaced with a default conformance probability of 95 %. This makes the risk constant, regardless of the relationship between the specification interval and the measurement uncertainty.
b) Some terminology has been updated.
c) The explanation for the population specification modifier has been removed.
