NATIONAL FOREWORD
This Indian Standard (Part 4) which is identical with ISO/TS 14253-4 : 2010 ‘Geometrical product specifications (GPS) — Inspection by measurement of workpieces and measuring equipment — Part 4: Background on functional limits and specification limits in decision rules’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of Engineering Metrology Sectional Committee and approval of the Production and General Engineering Division Council.
This standard is published in six parts. Other parts in this series are:
Part 1 Decision rules for proving conformity or nonconformity with specifications
Part 2 Guidance for the estimation of uncertainty in GPS measurement, in calibration of measuring equipment and in product verification
Part 3 Guidelines for achieving agreements on measurement uncertainty statements
Part 5 Uncertainty in testing indicating measuring instruments
Part 6 Generalized decision rules for the acceptance and rejection of instruments and workpieces
The text of ISO Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain terminologies and conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:
a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’.
b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker, while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
