IS 15531 : 2004 Recommended Practice for Ultrasonic Testing of Weld Fillets of Non-Linear Joints

1 Scope

1.1 This standard prescribes the method for ultrasonic testingand inspection of fusion welded non-linear joints by direct contactpulse-echo method. This method is applicable to material thicknessover 6 mm.

1.2 The category includes set-on, set-through, structuralT-Joints, Cruciform joints and node joints.

1.3 The requirements are established to scan the entire volumeof weld heat-affected zone, and both fusion faces from at least onedirection for detection, location and evaluation ofdiscontinuities.
