This Indian Standard (Part 2) which is identical with ISO 7543-2 : 1993 �Chillies and chilli oleoresins - Determination of total capsaicinoid content - Part 2: Method using -high-performance liquidchromatography� issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Spices and Condiments Sectional Committeeand approval of the Food and Agriculture Division Council.

The text of ISO Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attentionis particularly drawn to the following:

a) Wherever the words �International Standard� appear referring to this standard, they shouldbe read as �Indian Standard�.

b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker while in Indian Standards, the currentpractice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.

In this adopted standard, reference appears to the following International Standard for which IndianStandard also exists. The corresponding Indian Standard which is to be substituted in its place islisted below along with its degree of equivalence for the edition indicated:
