NATIONAL FOREWORD
This Indian Standard (Part 3) (First Revision) which is identical to ISO 8600-3 : 2019 'Endoscopes - Medical endoscopes and endotherapy devices - Part 3: Determination of field of view and direction of view of endoscopes with optics', issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of Surgical Instruments Sectional Committee and after approval of the Medical Equipment and Hospital Planning Division Council.
This standard has been issued in several parts. Other parts of this standard are:

This standard was first published in 2006 as IS 15732 (Part 3) : 2006 which was an identical adoption of ISO 8600-3 : 1997 'Optics and photonics - Medical endoscopes and endotherapy devices - Part 3: Determination of field of view and direction of view of endoscopes with optics'. This revision of the Standard has been brought out to align it with the latest version of ISO 8600-3 : 2019.
The text of ISO standard may be approved as suitable for publication as Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions are, however, not identical to those used in the Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:
a) Wherever the words 'International Standard' appear referring to this standard, they should be read as 'Indian Standard'; and
b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
