IS 15766 : Part 1 : 2007 Grading of Polished Diamonds - Part 1 : Classification

1 Scope

This standard specifies the terminology andclassification that shall be used for the grading anddescription of polished diamonds.

This standard shall only be used for natural,unmounted, polished diamonds. It shall not be usedfor synthetic diamonds treated diamonds (other thanis allowed for in 8.4), or assembled stones.

The minimum size of cut of polished diamond for gradingand certification should be 0.47 cts. However simplifieddiamond report may be issued for sizes between 0.20 and0.47 cts containing statement regarding weight, colour,clarity, shape and measurement.
