This Indian Standard (Part 2) (Fifth Revision) which is identical with ISO 6508-2 : 2015 ?Metallic materials — Rockwell hardness test — Part 2: Verification and calibration of testing machines and indenters issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Mechanical Testing of Metals Sectional Committee and approval of the Metallurgical Engineering Division Council.

This standard was originally published in 1960 and subsequently revised in 1968, 1988, 2000 and 2012. The fifth revision of this standard has been undertaken to align it with the latest version of ISO 6508-2. This standard is published in three parts. Other parts in this series are:

The text of ISO Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as Indian Standard without deviations. Certain terminologies and conventions are, however, not identical with those used in Indian Standard. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:

a) Wherever the words International Standard appear referring to this standard, they should be as read as Indian Standard

b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker, while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
