NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 2) (First Revision) which is identical with ISO 12647-2 : 2013 ‘Graphic technology - Process control for the production of half-tone colour separations, proof and production prints - Part 2: Offset lithographic processes’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Publication and Graphic Technology Sectional Committee and approval of the Management and Systems Division Council.

This standard defines a set of prepress terms which may be used in the drafting of other such standards for graphic technology. It was first published in 2012. The first revision of this standard has been undertaken to align it with the latest version of ISO 12647-2.

This standard is published in various parts. The other parts in this series are:

Part 1 Parameters and measurement methods

Part 3 Coldset offset lithography on newsprint

Part 4 Publication gravure printing

Part 5 Screen printing

Part 6 Flexographic printing

Part 7 Proofing processes working directly from digital data

Part 8 Validation print processes working directly from digital data

The text of ISO Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions and terminologies are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:

a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’.

b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
